As an artist, I am essentially interested in depicting New Zealand in all its fine form that calls for the participation of you, my audience, to enjoy observing places that may conjure up special memories for you.

It is easy to have a deep passion for New Zealand and its environment. I have walked the entire length of New Zealand on Te Araroa trail and with the Great New Zealand Trek (a once-off yearly, weeklong horse/bike/walking trek which started in Cape Reinga in 2006 and ended at the Bluff in 2019 to raise funds for Multiple Sclerosis). I have also enjoyed all the Great Walks of New Zealand and most of the great bike rides. Recently I completed the Tour Aotearoa Cycle Trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff - mostly on an e-bike. Seeing New Zealand so intimately has been a wonderful inspiration for my artwork.

Originally, I drew this art using a black ink pen and drafting paper from my imagination and memories. I have now recreated it digitally using a monochrome colour palette to highlight the linework. While taking advantage of my creative liberties, I have referenced several topographical maps in respect of all New Zealand’s stunning landforms and unique landmarks.
